Four-Cylinder Turbo 2016 Camaro Happen?


Not sure how I feel about this? Everyone likes changes, but as powerful as Chevy has been with their powerhouse sports cars lately, do we really have to follow suit?

Do we have to change because Mustang did? Since when did Camaro have to keep up with the "Jones?"

I like the idea behind changing the curves of the already cool looking Camaro. Change is not a bad thing, but having a four-cylinder, a six-cylinder and a V-8 to choose from might be a little bit much for a company that had and still has nothing but financial problems.



A billion-dollar bail out, even more money soaked into recalls; now Chevy wants to offer three different engine options. Turbos are the wave of the future, but why fix something that just isn't broken. Camaros use raw horsepower to move and they always have.

I say keep it that way.

I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly, their was no Chevy four-cylinder turbo Muscle Cars.

I not saying GM should stair away from turbos, it's great tech., but the Camaro should stay with the raw horsepower. Hell, if they want to put a turbo on the V-8, let's do it, but a four-cylinder? GM has enough of those. A smaller Camaro with a bigger engine, sounds fun, but a smaller Camaro with a smaller motor, sounds like going backwards.

The new curves that Chevy says their coming with, to look more like a 70s look, sounds like fun, but a Camaro with a smaller motor, not sure if that is something that will sell.







If Camaro is going to change, maybe this is what it should look like?

2015 Hot Rod Camaro – Limited Edition

 


When the legendary HOT ROD Magazine corporation teams up with anybody to make a project car, you know it's going to be something special. Just like in 2001, when Dennis Barker at Todd Wenzel Chevrolet in Hudsonville, Michigan joined forces with the magazine to design Special Edition HOT ROD Camaros, they produced something special. And that's why they're back at it again this year to build 2015 Special Edition Camaros.

A 2014 Special Edition Camaro made its first appearance at the HOT ROD Power Tour on June 7, 2014, at Zmax Dragway. Although this one was a 2014 Camaro, outside one other 2014, the rest of the Special Editions Camaros will be 2015s.


When asked about it at the Power Tour, HOT ROD and dealership staff both admitted to having a hard time agreeing with each other on even some of the smallest details, but both sides say regardless the project was fun and the outcome was spectacular. 

There will be 67 of these Special Edition Camaros sold at the Todd Wenzel dealership. Each Camaro will be sold in all V-8 trim levels including convertibles and will have plenty of HOT ROD Special Edition items including: badges and emblems, stripes, embroidered headrests, floor mats, sill plates, Forgeline wheels and center caps, exhaust diverters, slotted rotors, billet valve covers, and plug wires. You will also have a choice of many different colors, and each Camaro will have many different optional dealership performance upgrades to choose from.

Each Camaro will be built by the legendary Nickey High Performance and will have decals to prove it. What makes these Camaros so cool, with only 67 built, you can bet that you will be the only one on your block that owns one.

Mecum Auto Auction Will See Another Possible Multimillion Dollar Corvette

It's a 1967 Corvette coupe L88, 1 of 20 produced. With the original gas tank sticker that proves it's authenticity, the Corvette should be able to bring an amount of at least a million, maybe more at the up coming Mecum Auto Action being held in Seattle on June 13th and 14th.

A rare Marina Blue paint graces the exterior body color while the inside interior is wrap in black. What makes this L88 Corvette even more rare is the factory side exhaust that it has. Although, factory side exhaust are not rare on Corvette Stingrays, on the side of Corvette L88's, they are. This Corvette went on to win three decades of awards including multiple Bloomington Gold Special Collection Awards.


L88 versions of the Corvette did not come with simple things that makes driving easier. Power steering, heat, air and radio were axed at production. Even the fan shroud and choke got the ax, making the Vettes notoriously hard to keep running until they warmed up to operating temp, and if caught in traffic you could expect over-heating problems, but the car was built for racing.

What it did come with was a high performance power brake system and a heavy duty racing suspension. A close-ratio 4-speed transmission, 4.11:1 competition rear-end, and to top things off was a 427 CI. engine with 430hp @5,200rpm. The horsepower rating was underrated to help stay with in safety regulations. The 427 actually red-lined at 6,500rpm and probably was more capable of horsepower ratings around 560.


This Corvette was first bought from Bast Chevrolet in Seaforth, New York. The owner installed a roll-bar and a safety harness and the Corvette spent the next few years where it belonged, on the racetrack. It was then sold to a lady in Canada and then made it back to a new owner in the U.S., where it was restored and started to rack up a resume of awards. In 1998, Naber's Motors Corvette Restorations in Huston, TX., did a frame off restoration where it's sticker and correct numbers were verified. After that, the Corvette moved on to add to it's awards resume, winner more prestigious Bloomington Awards and getting the chance to be displayed in the “L88 Invasion” Special Collection.

Now with it's documented original factory tank sticker and Bloomington Gold literature and paperwork, it will be auctioned off to the public at the Mecum Auto Auction, and when this Corvette hits the block, Corvette lovers with deep pockets are sure to step up and play the game.

New Cadillac CTS Gets New Technology To Help Save Lives and A Revised Look

The new Cadillac CTS will sport a revised front-clip with the new wreath when it hits the showrooms soon, unfortunately, price or images of the new CTS has yet to be released. To add to the new look, Cadillac says it will also be introducing two new exterior colors: Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic. Cadillac also says there will be two new interior and trim color combination for the cabin.



The CTS will offer an exciting new option called the DockSpot, which provides magnetic inductive charging for wireless phones without the need for cords or cables. The Cadillac will also receive the OnStar 4GLTE data network system including a Wi-Fi hotspot that comes with a 3 month 3GB trail -- many other Cadillac versions will receive this OnStar technology as well.

Two other great functions will be added to the Cadillac standard CUE infotainment system: text messaging alerts and assistants and teen driver settings.

The text messaging alerts and assistants is designed to keep drivers safe while receiving a text message by simply reading the text messages to them -- it will also allow you to return a preset message with the touch of a button, e.g. "Message received, driving right now, will get back with you as soon as I can -- Thank You." All of this will allow you to send and receive messages without the need to look down at your phone and fumble around with the keys.

Teen driver settings will allow the owner to set functions like audio mute until seat belts are fastened, audible speed warnings, and a nifty little tool called the report card. The report card will alert you of any bad driving habits a teenage driver has been engaging in including wide-open throttle occurrences, ABS events, top speed frequency, and how many miles were put on the car while in the teenagers possession.

Between the text messaging alerts and assistants and teen driver settings, Cadillac is definitely working on making our roads safer.
